In May 1946, Alfred "Bub" and Betty Tyson opened a small furniture retail store specializing in discount furniture at 109 Broadway Street in Black Mountain, North Carolina, a town with deep family roots for Alfred that stretch back five generations. Today, Tyson Furniture still occupies that same historic building but has evolved into one of the largest and finest furniture stores in the Carolinas. The store now features over 60,000 square feet of showroom space in downtown Black Mountain, along with a modern warehouse facility just across town. In 1974, the second generation of the Tyson family, Joe and Carol, took over management of the business and continue to oversee daily operations. Their children, representing the third generation, returned to Black Mountain in 2017 to help carry on the rich Tyson Furniture history.

Tyson Furniture offers a wide selection of America’s best brands of discount furniture at significant savings from suggested retail prices.
Due to our small town location and high volume, we keep our overhead low. We reduce freight costs and minimize damage by using our own trucks to pick up most furniture shipments, along with our experienced crews for deliveries across the Southeast. These operational efficiencies allow us to pass on savings to our customers.
We take pride in our history of fair and honest dealings, supported by friendly, courteous service. This commitment, combined with our quality selection of furniture at competitive prices, has fostered loyalty among our customers throughout the United States.
