Our Story
In May 1946 Alfred "Bub" and Betty Tyson opened a small furniture retail store at 109 Broadway Street in Black Mountain, North Carolina; a town in which Alfred’s family roots reach back five generations. Today, Tyson Furniture still occupies that same building but has grown into one of the largest and finest furniture stores in the Carolina's. The store now boasts over 60,000 square feet of showroom space in downtown Black Mountain and a modern warehouse facility just across town. In 1974, a second generation of the Tyson family, Joe and Carol, assumed management of the business and continue overseeing the daily operations today. Joe and Carol's children, the third generation, moved back to the Black Mountain in 2017 to help carry on the Tyson Furniture legacy.

Tyson Furniture sells most of America’s best brands of furniture at a considerable discount from suggested retail prices.
Because of our small town location and high volume we keep our overhead to a minimum. We minimize freight cost and damage by picking up most furniture shipments on our own trucks and use our own experienced crews for deliveries throughout the Southeast. These operating efficiencies translate into savings for our customers.
We are very proud of our reputation for fair and honest dealings backed by friendly, courteous service. Those combined with our quality selection of furniture at discount prices have earned us loyal customers throughout the United States.
